The history

The Uzbekistani squad, founded in 2022, borrows its name from the capital of this Central Asian country. Djamolidine Abdoujaparov, a three-time winner of the green jersey who claimed nine stage wins in the 1990s, put Uzbekistan on the map of the Tour. Last year, the team hoovered up UCI points left, right and centre, dominating the Asian circuit and finishing in the top 2 of the Continental team classification, which unlocks a ticket to all the races that make up the 2024 WorldTour calendar.

A tight budget has forced it to sit out most of these events, but in August it will be making its first appearance in the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The team manager is the American Gleb Groysman, who used to coach Pavel Sivakov and once served as team manager at Team Novo Nordisk. Every single rider on the roster is Uzbekistani, although Olga Zabelinskaya, a three-time Olympic medallist in 2012 and 2016, raced under a Russian licence until 2018.
