Stage 7 of the 2024 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift is the longest stage of the race and will be a fearsome test for the riders. Unpredictable weather over the mountainous 166.4 km route from Champagnole to the spectacular finish on Le Grand Bornand could cause havoc.
A Tour which started with fast, flat stages in the Netherlands on Monday and Tuesday concludes with two final two stages for the climbers and Saturday’s race should be explosive over five categorised ascents, with the likes of Yellow Jersey Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM Racing) and defending champion Demi Vollering (SD Worx-Protime) set to do battle.
However, additional protagonists who have shined this week such as Kristen Faulkner (EF-Oatly-Cannondale), Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Deceuninck), Silvia Persico (UAE Team ADQ), Cedrine Kerbaol (CERATIZIT-WNT Pro Cycling) and Justine Ghekiere (AG Insurance - Soudal Team) will all be vying to have their say in how the race unfolds.
The riders face a hefty 3,015 metres of elevation gain on Saturday including the Col de la Croix de la Serra - a very tough Cat. 1 climb of 12 km at 5.1% - as the first big test of the day. The stage concludes with a new, steep finish at Le Grand Bornand on Montée du Chinaillon (7km, 5.1%). Expect fireworks.
