“Honestly it was the aim for the team to take the polka dot because we are a continental team and we got the invitation here, so we want to honour it in the best way possible. I’m not really a climber but I did my best and I will just enjoy having the jersey. There was 20 km to go before the climb when I went ahead, so I was really, really tired in the end because we are at the Tour de France. For me it’s just superb to be here. I had a big motivation and I was afraid to be beaten in the sprint for the points so I just went solo and that’s it. Mission accomplished!”
