The history

Six years after its inception, the Skil–Shimano team launched a women's structure in 2011, named Skil–Kolga, which developed alongside the men's team. Kirsten Wild, the Dutch rider with 109 road victories and nine track world titles, secured the team its first significant wins in 2013, at the Tour of Qatar and Gent–Wevelgem, when the team was known as Giant–Shimano. The team underwent name changes in 2015 and 2016 (Liv–Plantur), although Liv and Plantur are both owned by the Giant group, the main sponsors alongside the shampoo brand Alpecin for the men's team.

In recent years, the team has evolved with a return to a unified name, Sunweb, from 2017 to 2020, then DSM, and currently dsm–firmenich PostNL this season. In 2017, the team achieved its peak by winning the world team time trial championship in Bergen and securing second place in the UCI rankings, led by European time trial champion Ellen van Dijk, who has since moved to Lidl–Trek. The team has maintained its competitive edge in the cycling world.

Lorena Wiebes, who wore the inaugural yellow jersey in the 2022 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, dominated bunch sprints before joining SD Worx–Protime. Charlotte Kool has now taken up the mantle as another outstanding sprinter, sharing leadership with Juliette Labous, focusing on GC, and Pfeiffer Georgi, a strong presence in the classics.

KEY FIGURES

1. As of mid-June, the team had a single victory in the bag — stage 4 of the Tour de Normandie, which went to Josie Nelson.

4. Juliette Labous's ranking in the first two editions of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The 25-year-old Frenchwoman is targeting her first podium finish this season.

22. The average age of the roster. The Dutch outfit has the youngest team on the WorldTour, far ahead of Canyon//SRAM Racing (24.5). The "grandmother" of the squad, Rachele Barbieri, is just 27 years old!
