What a finish!
In an absolutely thrilling finale, Kasia Niewiadoma holds onto the Maillot Jaune by just 4 seconds! She might have finished 4th on the stage but with a combined average speed of 17.1km/h over the Col du Glandon and Alpe d'Huez, Kasia Niewiadoma takes home the ultimate prize.
Record equalled
Demi Vollering won her 3rd stage at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift after the Tourmalet last year and Rotterdam this year. She equalled the record of wins of her compatriot Lorena Wiebes (Paris and Saint-Dié-des-Vosges 2022; Montignac-Lascaux 2023).
20th pro win
A round number for Katarzyna Niewiadoma: in becoming the first Polish rider to win the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, she scored her 20th professional win, the 2nd this year after La Flèche Wallonne Femmes in April.
The Dutch mountain to the Dutch!
The Alpe d’Huez, conquered no less than 8 times by Dutch riders in the Tour de France, at its first appearance at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift is conquered by Dutch athletes! Demi Vollering and Pauliena Rooijakkers recorded the 8th stage 1-2 for the Netherlands, the 9th counting also 2022’s final GC. It’s also the 14th stage win for the Netherlands out of 24 stages run so far.
Closest final gap
The 4 seconds with which Katarzyna Niewiadoma won the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift are the smallest margin ever: in 2022 Annemiek van Vleuten won with 3’48” over Demi Vollering, and last year Vollering won with 3’03” over Lotte Kopecky and Niewiadoma.
Ghekiere takes the dots
Justine Ghekiere (AGS) secured the Polka Dot jersey on the Col de Tamie. She averaged 18.2km/h across all the climbs of the race.
They are always there
Demi Vollering and Katarzyna Niewiadoma are the only two riders able to climb on the GC final podium 3 times out of 3. Vollering was 2nd in 2022, winner last year and again 2nd this year. Niewiadoma was 3rd in the last two editions before winning this year’s.
New max speed!
Pauliena Rooijakkers is giving everything to stay with Demi Vollering, a possible GC podium up for grabs! On the descent on Col du Glandon she hit 95.9km/h which is the highest speed we've seen in this race.
Once it’s lost, it’s lost
Demi Vollering did her best, but was not able to do the magic of being the first woman to retake the Maillot Jaune after losing it. The succession of Maillot Jaunes was as follows:
- 2022: Wiebes, Vos, Van Vleuten
- 2023: Kopecky, Vollering
- 2024: Kool, Vollering, Niewiadoma
After 2 years
Two years ago, in Bar-sur-Aube, a 23 year-old Evita Muzic posted her maiden stage podium, 2nd behind Marlen Reusser. It’s been a long wait for her, but now she is back, posting a 3rd at the Alpe d’Huez.
Best French ever
Evita Muzic equalled the best GC result for a French rider at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, equalling the 4th by Juliette Labous in 2022. The gap to the winner, however, is markedly different: Labous was 7’28” behind Van Vleuten, while Muzic finished at 1’21” from Niewiadoma.
The wait continues
Pauliena Rooijakkers came close to ending her winning drought, started 824 days ago after she won Durango-Durango in 2022. She takes comfort in scoring her first Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift stage podium in 2nd.
The QOM stands
Demi Vollering won the stage and was also the fastest on the 13.79km Strava segment for Alpe d'Huez, completing the 8.7% ascent in 49'52''. At the end of eight hard stages of racing she fell short of topping the overall leaderboard and the fastest time still stands at 46'47''.
